The Hitmen Trio came about as a response to the ever growing demand for smaller, boutique wedding bands, and brides and grooms who want a unique and different wedding band. The band's purely acoustic sound is both powerful and intimate with a focus on great songs, modern and classic, performed and arranged with an original, energetic slant.
The Hitmen Trio are Roly, Cian and Roman:
ROLY SMYTH, Guitar, Vocals, Piano.
www.rolysmythmusic.comA born performer and musician Roly loves all aspects of the music business, from the organisation of the band logistics to dealing with excited brides and grooms with the wedding planning.
Having known Cian since the age of 8, and having done his music HDIP with Roman, Roly provides the link between the two real talents on the stage... that's what Cian and Roman have told us to write down anyway. Roly's versatility and professionalism come in very useful whether organising ceremony music or piano performance (yes, he plays piano at ceremonies and receptions) and his true passion for music can be seen when performing with the Hitmen Trio using his signature rhythm style guitar and vocals. He thrives on the energy and fun derived from being in a great wedding receptions band. Roly got married in October 2012 so has been through the process most couples reading this ae going through now- feel free to ask him for advice (not on marraige itself, just the organisation of the party)! Strange Fact: Roly is a reluctant marathon runner, having completed the Dublin Marathon three times- maybe going for a fourth-(He still enjoys more than the occasional Guinness though!). 2013- enjoying adding different music mash ups and helping create a youtube campaign. CIAN MEKITARIAN, Vocals, Cajon and percussion, Guitar ![]() Imposing in stature and in voice, Cian is born for the stage and his lead vocals are powerful adding texture and depth on lead and harmony parts. You'd expect that from an award winning choirester and ex-front man of Dublin based rock group Jalopy! Cian embodies the arts. being an excellent portrait artist and stage actor in many productions. He has played the biggest venues in Dublin such as Sugar Club and Crawdaddy to the smallest! Bringing in light percussion such as the Cajon, which is an Afro-Peruvian drum gives a band sound without taking over and being too loud, which is important for a smaller venue and an acoustic vibe. Being in the Hitmen Trio, Cian feels his existence is now fully validated (!) and is the first member of the trio to be involved in the craic, if there is even a sniff of it about. If there is no craic he will probably create it and share it. He especially enjoys the country, quirky and rockabilly styles of the set and pays close close attention to those vocal harmonies. Strange Fact: Cian likes all cables to be wrapped up neatly too, watch out for him constantly on Roly's case about this! Roly doesn't stand a chance with the CableGuy Cian. 2013- Cian is eagerly anticipating a new custom handmade Cajon, made specifically for the sound of the Hitmen! ROMAIN PICCOLO, Lead Guitar, Vocals, Logarhythm ![]() Hi. I am Romain.Romain Piccolo. Yes, its an unusual name. But we are an unusual band, so maybe it suits me! It seems everyone one of us has a strange name, Mekitarian? Roly? I digress, my apologies. I am originally from Bordeaux in France but am settled in Dublin's fair city (be jaysus) and teach and perform music here. J' adore our sound in the Hitmen Trio - even though we play cover songs, we choose only the good ones and the best not so good ones, and they are all so tastefully done and have great beauty. Something about me perhaps? I am probably the most handsome in the group - although its a close call between Roly and myself! (sorry Cian, you get too many compliments already!) - and I play lead acoustic guitar in the band. I have the responsibility to print the set list for each gig, and have to remember to bring 3 copies, one for me, one for Cian and one for Roly. I have a passion for arranging songs, it's my thing, and you will see or/and hear my invisible 'Roman' stamp on many a solo, lick and riff within our set. I am a self taught logarhythm player and can play beats whilst playing my guitar very fast and singing an octave lower than a whale! My favourite song in the set has to be "Long Train Runnin", the classic song from the Doobie Brothers where I play with a delay effect, Slap Bass, harmonics, lead solo and sing harmonies. I have 3 hands, you'd think, but no just kidding, just the two. I am proud to be a part of Irelands best wedding band. Strange Fact: "Piccolo" stands for "small" in Italian and it is also a half-size flute that produces very high notes, (quite unlike my singing)! Romain is also a very successful rock and blues guitar teacher, so if you want to have serious guitar 'chops' like Romain visit his website www.rockguitarlab.com 2013- Romain is patiently awaiting a one in a lifetime guitar, designed by himself, with a dual neck for guitar and bass- the Frenchman is unstoppable! |
